Cope with wedding day emergencies big and small
Your big day is finally here and nothing should go wrong. But it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for the little things that could cause a bump in the road. Every bride needs a wedding day emergency kit. Pulling together your kit can be quick and simple. This is also a task you can delegate to one of your bridesmaids, your mother or the mother of the groom.
Include these wedding day essentials in your emergency kit:
1. Advil or Ibuprofen
4. Pins, pins and more pins. Pack bobby pins, straight pins for pinning on boutonnieres and safety pins.
5. Tissues and Make Up removers
6. Band aids and Neosporin
7. Static Guard
8. Nail clippers and nail file
10. Mouthwash or breath mints
12. Sewing kit
This should cover you, your bridesmaids and the entire wedding party for any mishap that may happen.
Finding all of these items is simple. Just look for sample or travel sizes at your local grocery store or Target. You can also shop Amazon.com for these items in travel sizes. Some brides choose to have a small basket or caddy in the restroom for their guest’s convenience. The basket typically contains lotion, nail files, mints, tampons, band aids, etc. Basically the same items as listed above. So, shop once and pick items for the wedding day emergency kit and the restroom baskets at the same time.
You don’t want to over pack either. I had a bride who included hairspray and dry shampoo in her wedding day kit. One of the bridesmaids mistook the dry shampoo for hairspray and had a terrible mess when she sprayed the powdery dry shampoo on to her already styled hair. So, don’t overdo it!
Wedding Day Emergency Kit Carry All
Look for a basket, tote, caddy or zippered pouch to carry these items so they are easy to access. I use a small tote with pockets from Thirty One gifts to pack the wedding day emergency kit that I use with my brides. Its compact, organized and easy to carry.
If you’re working with a wedding planner, ask if you should pull together an emergency kit or if they will have one with them.
